Cute and Cuddly

I had been moving along at a nice pace between work and my projects until last week.

That's when I caught this nasty little cold that pretty much put me out of commission for the week. I slept a good bit of Monday, hoping that when I woke up the cold would have gone away, but no such luck. By Wednesday I finally admitted that I was just feeling crappy and that this was not going to be my most productive week. But, even with really low energy, I couldn't sleep all day every day.

So, I camped out on the couch while the kids were at school and started to knit. And knit. And knit, until it turned into a mini frenzy of amigurumi knitted critters. (I think it's fair to say that I have a really hard time doing nothing.)

Here is what I made last week.

These two ladybugs are from a pattern by ChemKnits. I made 2 of the simple versions for two of our Pre-School teachers, Ms. Amber and Ms. Gabby.

The little lizard from this pattern by Cassidy Clark Designs for Ms. Liz, one of the Pre-Kindergarten teachers.

Then I was on a roll.

Next, came this little elephant from Miss Anie. I actually ran out of the pink I was using on this one which is how it came to have purple ears, feet and the tail.

I actually like it a lot with the two different colors. As did my daughter, who came home from school, snatched it up, squealed "pink and purple, my favorite!", named it Lucy and ran off with it.

She paused briefly for this shot, and I haven't seen Lucy since. At least she said thank you.

Which, naturally, led to big brother asking, "what are you making me?"

So, I stuck with Miss Aine and used her pattern to make this little lion.

I really, really like this little guy, and so did my son. He named the lion Fuzzby, thanked me for making him and took him to a place of honor on his lego shelves.

And finally, this little mouse.

I used this pattern by Rachel Borello Carroll. I think my mouse looks a little bit rat-like, I probably should have made the tail thinner, but I like him. He reminds me a little of Ratatouille.

This guy I managed to keep away from both of my children by putting him on really high shelf in my craft room. But my daughter has got her eye on him, I can tell.

So, that's how I spent my "sick week". Thankfully, I'm on the mend now and will be working and doing some larger projects next week, finishing up some upholstery and some shelving. Hopefully, I'll have new projects to share later this week.

Hope everyone is staying healthy!
