The Winter of Yarn

Hello friends!

I am so sorry it's been so long since I've been here. I can't quite explain it, but somewhere around Halloween costume season aka September and October, I just lost my sewing mojo and with it, my blogging mojo.

What I did do was pick up my yarn and needles and hooks again. A LOT! There are any number of articles on the therapeutic properties of knitting and crocheting (and I would really add ALL crafts) so perhaps I just needed some down time with my sticks and strings to help pull me through the holiday chaos and the post-moving funk I'd been in.

So, what have I been making?  Well, here are some of the projects I've finished.

First, I made these 2 lovely Road Trip Scarves from a free pattern on Zooty Owl's Crafty Blog. These were so easy and fun to make, they worked up really fast and turned out really warm and cozy.

One for me.

And one as a Christmas gift for my niece Sarah.

Next, I found some to DIE for yarn at our LYS (local yarn shop) and decided to tackle my first shawl/wrap. This one is a free pattern on Moogly called Alpaca Your Wrap. Thank goodness she made a video tutorial for this one or I'd still be working on it!

I was actually really on the fence with this one, I like it.....I'm not sure that I like it....it's too long...it's too wide.....So, I finally just wore it around one cold, blustery day and after that, well, I am no longer on the fence. I love it!

Then, I decided to stop buying yarn and use up some of my scrap yarn. I've been wanting to make this little guy for a while anyway. Also a free pattern found on I Love Buttons by Emma

This little cutie was a Christmas gift for my sister-in-law whose favorite animal is a giraffe.

Oh, and since we're on the subject of gifts, I made this fun School Bus Scarf for our bus driver as a gift for Bus Driver Appreciation Week.

This scarf is perfect for cold mornings.

Okay, for now, I'm going to leave you with these lovely pictures and pattern links of yarny goodness, but I am FAR from done with this subject. After all, I haven't even shown you my knitting!

Have an awesome week!!
